Morgan Harrington FB Group Could Lose 30K Members

Facebook's archive process removes all fans.

A Facebook group dedicated to finding the person who and may lose its 30,000 members to the social network's archiving process.

The Daily Progress reports: "Denise Sparks, an administrator of Help Find Morgan Dana Harrington, said she has tried to contact Facebook to prevent the group from being archived as it moves to the new format. According to Facebook’s page on group migration, an archived group will re-emerge in the new format, but the members would have to be added again."

Members collected over 1,000 petition signatures and started a new Facebook group, Save Help Find Morgan Dana Harrington FB Group, to persaude Facebook administrators not to archive the main group.

Va. Tech student Morgan Harrington went to a Metallica concert at the University of Virginia with some friends on Oct. 17, 2009. She somehow separated from her friends and was barred from reentering the John Paul Jones Arena per venue regulations. Her remains were discovered in a farm southwest of Charlottesville three months later.

Police linked DNA found in the Charlottesville farm to an unsolved rape case in Fairfax City.
