A second elementary school playground set in Farifax County has been set on fire and all but destroyed, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. The latest was at Greenbriar West Elementary School in the 13300 block of Poplar Tree Road. Officials also are looking for the public's help in finding whoever had a hand in setting a playground set on fire Oct. 2 at Lees Corner Elementary School. >>> Read more.

Virginia is reporting "sporadic" flu activity across the Commonwealth last week, the first week the Department of Health began tracking flu activity across the state. "VDH does not have a way to track individual cases of influenza in Virginia," said spokesman Matthew Lipani, per Diane Woolard director of VDH’s Division of Surveillance and Investigation. >>> Read more.
