On the Agenda: EMAS, LED Lights, $2.2M to Bridge Replacement

Fairfax City council members will meet tonight to discuss cemetery plots, Old Town parking, Ashby Pond and line of duty benefits.

Council members will discuss whether to...

• Contract with B&B Signal Company to upgrade traffic signal controls and add LED lights to intersections as part of an energy-saving strategy.
• Extend a contract with the services company helping the city move utilities underground.
• Spend $175,000 more in improving Ashby Pond.
• Main Street Child Development Center can keep renting a portion of the former Green Acres Elementary School. The center has been renting since 2002.
• Transfer $2.2 million in funds from other city projects to replace the Chain Bridge Road bridge.

Tonight's work session will include...

• A presentation on the city's new emergency alert system.
