Police: 'Grandson' Calls From Mexico, Neighbors Misuse BB Gun

Fairfax City Police investigate stolen credit cards, a burglary and a strange call from a "grandson" stuck in Mexico.

• A Maple Street resident told police that someone had used his credit card number to make unauthorized purchases in Italy and the United States between April 22 and May 4.
• Unknown person(s) broke a window and entered a residence in the 10600 block of Kitter Pozer Lane sometime after 8:30 p.m. on May 4. Nothing was taken.
• A Payless Shoe Source customer missplaced her wallet and credit card. It had been used to make unauthorized purchases before 8:24 p.m. May 2.
• A man called a Poplar Street women pretending to be her grandson. He told her that he was in jail in Mexico for fishing without a license and that he needed a large sum of money. The woman's real grandson was actually in North Carolina at the time. She contacted police at 8:21 p.m. on May 3, after the suspect called her again.
• An Old Post Road resident responded to an online employment advertisement. The employers said she was qualified for the job and mailed her a check to cover expenses. They then asked her to wire some of the money to Ukraine. The original check was a fake. She contacted police on May 1.
• Police warned residents that firing a BB or pellet into a neighbor's house is against the law in Fairfax City. The warning came after a Spring Lake Court resident complained of someone doing just that on May 2.
