Police Look Into Bad Checks, Old Town Hall Assault

Police activity from last week.

Fairfax City police are investigating reports of bad checks, strange merchant accounts and an Old Town Hall assault. Details:

  • A Fairfax Boulevard CVS Pharmacy employee contacted police on December 3 after a female customer tried to use a fradulent check and driver's license number to pay for merchandise. She left the store when the check was denied.
  • Police are looking for someone(s) who stole a check from a man's unlocked vehicle at a parking lot in the 3900 block of Old Lee Highway. The theft occurred sometime between 12-1 p.m. on December 3.
  • The owner of Happy Woof on Willard Way was in for a surprise when she received a packet informing her that an unknown person had applied for a merchant account through a payment service. She contacted police on December 3, shortly after reading the packet.
  • A Chick-Fil-A customer called police on December 3 when she discovered someone(s) had broken a window to steal a book bag from her parked vehicle. The theft occurred sometime between 8-9:30 p.m. Though the book bag was found in a nearby parking lot, the iPod contained within it was gone.
  • Police are looking for three or four male suspects who jumped a 22-year-old Herndon man as he was walking through the Old Town Hall parking lot after midnight on December 5. The victim told police that his attackers got out of a vehicle as he passed. One of the suspects punched him in the face before the group drove away.
