Snow Expected To Make NoVA, DC Commute Messy, 2nd Round Looms
It's been a long wait, but DC, NoVA are likely to see up to 3 inches of snow Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, the NWS says.
VIRGINIA — It's been more than a year since most of the DC region has had to shovel snow, but Northern Virginia and the District are likely to see up to 3 inches of snow starting Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service says.
And, there's another chance for snow later in the week, Thursday into Friday.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, the NWS said, with 2 to 3 inches of snow expected in much of central and Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the afternoon and evening commute," the NWS advisory said.
Snowfall will pick up in intensity Monday afternoon. The snow is expected to continue through the night, before winding down before daybreak Tuesday, the agency said.

Areas included in the weather advisory are: District of Columbia, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Manassas and Manassas Park.
"Dangerously cold wind chills are possible late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, especially near and north of Highway 50," the National Weather Service warned.
A hazardous weather outlook is in place for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.

Monday: Snow, mainly after 4pm. High near 31. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Monday Night: Snow, mainly before 4am. Low around 28. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Tuesday: A chance of snow before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Northeast wind 5 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 31. West wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.
Thursday Night: A chance of snow after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday: A chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. Blustery.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. Blustery.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 33.
