The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 8 p.m. for Fairfax County and the D.C. metropolitan area.
Fairfax County issued an alert this afternoon warning residents of strong storms that could produce damaging winds, hail and tornadoes.
Tonight's forecast will see lows in the lower 60s and mostly cloudy skies, with a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms.
