Woodson High School Student Dies
Fairfax school officials confirm death of 17-year-old Ethan Griffith.

School officials confirmed Wednesday a student from W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax has died.
Junior Ethan Griffith died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, officials said.

Woodson High School principal Jeff Yost said in a statement Wednesday that Griffith "was a good student and well-liked by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed."
"Our thoughts are with the Griffith family during this extremely difficult time," he wrote.

On Wednesday afternoon, students and others in the Fairfax area were mourning the loss of the teen on social media, bidding their friend farewell and sharing condolences with his family and the larger school community.
"Sending thoughts and prayers to the Fairfax and Woodson community over the loss of Ethan Griffith," user "Katie Clark" said on Twitter.
R.I.P Ethan Griffith...you will always be in are heart<3" user "Merlob Tadesse" wrote.
"Even though I'm not Woodson I can feel the quietness... stay strong Cavs, and RIP Ethan Griffith," reads a tweet from user "John Bartz."
For many students and community members, this death is the third loss they've suffered this year: Bryan Glenn, a Woodson High senior, died in October. *Rising sophomore Cameron Kilby died in August.
Yost said in his statement that such sudden deaths "can have an effect on students. For that reason, we hope that you will listen to your son or daughter as well as discuss with them their feelings and reactions to this tragedy."
"We are taking every step we can to be responsive to the needs of our students and their families," he wrote.
Twitter user "Emily Carns" wrote Wednesday she was "Heartbroken to hear about the loss of another WTW student, Ethan Griffith. My prayers go out to him and his loved ones."
* Editor's Note, 7:48 p.m.: Patch learned today there have been three deaths at Woodson during the 2012-13 school year. According to a letter sent to the Woodson community by Principal Jeff Yost, a student named Cameron Kilby, a rising sophomore, died in early August.
