City of Falls Church Tops Forbes Top 10 Richest ‘Counties’

Falls Church, Fairfax City only cities amongst richest counties

The City of Falls Church is in no way geographically larger that Fairfax County. On Monday when Forbes released their Top 10 Richest Counties, “The Little City” was two spots ahead of Fairfax County. At the number one spot, the City of Falls Church was one spot ahead of Loudoun County. Fairfax City also joined the City of Falls Church on the list coming in at number 10 on the list.

“Our location makes us an attractive place to live,” Mayor Nader Baroukh said Monday during a telephone interview.

According to Forbes, the median annual household income is more than $113,000. With only 2.2 square miles of land, the City of Falls Church has 12,332 residents, said city spokeswoman Barbara Gordon, quoting the 2010 Census.

Baroukh said Falls Church City Public Schools is another reason people want to live in the city. He said the schools offer a world-class education and parents want that for their children. He said it is also noteworthy that several of the city’s residents own a variety of bachelor’s degrees and other advanced degrees.

“We’ve known about this data for some time,” Baroukh said. “It’s great to be recognized.”
