Cookies Recalled At VA Grocery Store Could Contain Rocks

Trader Joe's is urging customers not to eat its Almond Windmill or Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond cookies, as they may contain rocks.

VIRGINIA — Trader Joe's issued a recall for certain cookies sold at stores in Virginia and around the country, and is asking customers not to eat them as they "may contain rocks."

Trader Joe's said the supplier of its Almond Windmill Cookies and Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies alerted the grocery chain that packages of these cookies may have rocks inside. Customers are asked to throw the products away, or return them to any Trader Joe's for a refund.

Trader Joe's has 18 locations in Virginia, including Northern Virginia locations in Alexandria, Arlington, Ashburn, Bailey's Crossroads, Centreville, Fairfax, Falls Church, Reston and Springfield.

The following cookie SKU numbers and sell-by dates are affected, said Trader Joe's:

  • Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies (SKU# 98744) with a sell-by date between 10/19/23 and 10/21/23
  • Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies (SKU# 82752) with a sell-by date between 10/17/23 and 10/21/23

"All potentially affected product has been removed from sale and destroyed," the retailer said.

Trader Joe's says that anyone who purchased or received donations of the cookies to "please" not eat them.

"We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund," said the retailer. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
