UPDATE: Falls Church City Government Closed Monday

City government joins Falls Church City Public Schools and will close Monday due to Hurricane Sandy.

8:24 p.m.: The City of Falls Church government will be closed Monday due to Hurricane Sandy.

In a written statement, Susan Finarelli, spokeswoman for the city, said essential personnel should report to their supervisor.

The Mary Riley Styles Public Library will also be closed.

The Falls Church Community Center, however, will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. but all Parks and Recreation programs will be canceled.

In-person absentee voting will continue as scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the city's Registrar's Office (City Hall, Suite 101 East; enter the building through the Police Department on level G2).

4:38 p.m.: Falls Church City Public Schools have joined other jurisdictions in closing school Monday for students, teachers and administrators.

Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria and Loudoun County are also closed Monday.
