Falls Church McDonald’s Looking to Benefit From Nationwide Hiring Day

Local franchises looking to hire 1,400 on Tuesday.

Jim Van Valkenburg would like to have 100 people working in his Falls Church in the 3000 block of Gallows Road. As of now, he has about 65 employees and the extra employees would make scheduling a little easier.

With all McDonald’s nationwide participating in a mass-hiring day, he could see an increase in personnel.

“We’re always looking for good people,” Van Valkenburg said Monday morning inside his restaurant.

“I’ve had really good experiences and challenges,” said Ortiz whose mother is also an assistant manager at the same franchise. “You learn something new everyday.”

Van Valkenburg, who owns eight McDonald’s franchises between Virginia and Washington, D.C., said 70 percent of his managers started out as crewmembers. He said the mass hiring is good for the company overall and especially his restaurants.

“The more people I have, the better I can staff,” he said.
