Falls Church School Board Election Results: 3 Candidates Lead
Three Falls Church School Board seats were on the ballot Tuesday, and only one incumbent was seeking re-election. Check for updated results.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Falls Church School Board was one of the races on the ballot for City of Falls Church voters on Tuesday. According to unofficial results, the three School Board candidates have received more votes than write-in candidates with all three wards reporting. (See real-time election results at the bottom of this story.)
Three of seven school board seats were on the ballot, and three candidates are running in the general election. School board members are elected for four-year terms and set policies for Falls Church City Public Schools, including annual budgets and capital project schedules. FCCPS is one of Northern Virginia's small school divisions, serving thousands of students.

Candidates for school board include Jerrod Anderson, who was chosen earlier in 2023 for a seat vacated by Phil Reitinger. Other candidates include Bethany Henderson and Amie Murphy, both of whom applied for the open School Board seat earlier this year. Two incumbents — school board Chair Laura Downs and school board member Susan Dimock — announced their intention to not seek re-election earlier this year.
School Board members not up for election this year are Tate Gould, David Ortiz, Lori Silverman and Kathleen Tysse.

With all of the city's three wards reporting, Henderson has 32.36 percent of votes, Murphy has 31.76 percent and Anderson has 30.93 percent. Another 4.94 percent went to write-ins. The vote tallies do not include provisional ballots. Election results are unofficial until certified by the state board of elections.
Other City of Falls Church races include three Falls Church City Council seats, Virginia Senate 37th District, Virginia House 13th District, Arlington County/Falls Church City Commonwealth's Attorney and Arlington County Clerk of Court.
