• A casino in your pocket? Bill hopes to bring online gambling to Virginia (wtop.com) — Falls Church’s own Del. Marcus Simon is leading a push to legalize online casino gambling statewide, letting approved casinos run multiple phone-based platforms taxed at 15% of revenue. Lawmakers return to Richmond this week to consider the bill, which would also direct a share of tax proceeds to problem gambling treatment and follows recent debate over a potential Tysons casino.
   

• Jayne L. Day, 80 (riverheadlocal.com) — Longtime former Falls Church resident Jayne L. Day, who lived in the city from 1980 to 2012 and was active with The Falls Church Episcopal and George Mason High School PTA, has died at age 80. Her family remembers her decades of volunteer service and government work, and invites memorial donations to Blood Cancer United in her honor.
