Peaceful Resolution Still Possible in Falls Church Standoff
FOP executive director says every standoff is different.

As the standoff between police and an armed City of Falls Church man inches toward the 24-hour mark, the executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police said there is still time for peaceful resolution.
Jim Pasco said there is no cookbook for police to resolve a standoff. Pasco said each negotiation is different.

“There’s no set number of days to end a negotiation successfully,” Pasco said. “It’s going to depend on the situation.”

Negotiators have been communicating with the man since 1 a.m., but the unidentified man has not exited the home.
Police from Arlington and Fairfax counties as well as Alexandria police are assisting City of Falls Church police with the standoff.
Update - 2:05 p.m. Tuesday - Police are no longer allowing residents of Hillwood Avenue between Cherry and Roosevelt streets into the area. Residents are advised to make back-up accomodation plans for tonight in case the situation is not resolved by nightfall.
