Pizza-Carrying Man Assaulted, Robbed by Mob Saturday Night: Police

A security guard was able to intervene and assisted the victim, while detaining one of the suspects, Fairfax County Police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A man was attacked and robbed by a mob after leaving a restaurant with a pizza late Saturday night and one of the suspects was arrested, according to Fairfax County Police.

The incident took place in the 6000 block of Argyle Drive, just off of Leesburg Pike in the Bailey's Crossroads area late Saturday just before midnight.

Officers responding to the report of a robbery and assault determined that the victim had purchased a pizza at a store and began walking when he was approached by several men. The men demanded his pizza and began to assault him, according to police. A security guard was able to intervene and assisted the victim, while detaining one of the suspects.

Rocael Romero Mendez, 22, of Falls Church was arrested and taken to the adult detention center where he was charged with attempted robbery and assault. The remaining suspects were described as Hispanic and fled on foot. The victim did not require medical attention, police said.
