Police: Seven Corners Bank Robbery Suspect Also Robbed Bank in June

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Officers responded to the report of a bank robbery at the TD Bank at 6198 Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church on Tuesday, July 5 at around 3:25 p.m., according to Fairfax County Police.

A man entered the bank, claimed to have an explosive device in a backpack, and demanded money, police said. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash and there were no injuries. He left the backpack outside the front of the bank.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 50’s, approximately 6 feet tall, thin build, gray hair in a ponytail, police said. He was wearing sunglasses, a yellow hat, a gray shirt and jeans.

Out of an abundance of caution, the bank and surrounding businesses were evacuated. EOD (the Bomb Squad) responded to examine the backpack. Arlington Boulevard at Patrick Henry Drive was shut down periodically to maximize the safety of passing motorists. EOD declared the contents of the backpack safe shortly before 7 p.m.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and from the Crime Scene Section responded and assumed the investigation. They believe that this same suspect is responsible for the bank robbery that occurred on Wednesday, June 1, at the BB&T Bank at 8416 Arlington Boulevard.

A reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this robber is being offered. The FBI requests that anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000.
