Highs Will Peak Near 60 In DC, NoVA, Followed By Possible Snow
A cold front moving into the D.C. area could bring snow to the region on Sunday after highs near 60 on Friday and Saturday, forecasters say.
VIRGINIA/DC — The next few days are forecast to bring mild temperatures and lots of sunshine to the Washington, D.C., area, followed by a cold front and a storm forming off the coast Saturday night that might produce snow in the region on Sunday.
Temperatures could approach 60 degrees on Friday and Saturday before the cold air moves into the region.
“Some models show the chance of snow Saturday night as temperatures fall through the 30s and potentially into the 20s, with a continued chance of snow on Sunday and much colder highs only in the 30s to near 40,” the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang reported Wednesday. “Doesn’t look like a big storm at this point, but some accumulation is possible.”

AccuWeather said its meteorologists are keeping a close eye on a new blast of Arctic air and a potential winter storm along the East Coast that may occur on Sunday in the D.C. area and on Valentine's Day in the Northeast.
"Even though the anticipated cold is expected to fall short of recent Arctic blasts, the dramatic change in temperatures could add to the shock value of the burst of wintry weather," AccuWeather meteorologist Bernie Rayno said in a statement Wednesday.

"The transition to colder weather also could set the stage for a storm to develop, strengthen and then attempt a northward turn over the western Atlantic from later this weekend to Monday, Valentine’s Day," he said.
On Wednesday morning, NBC4 meteorologist Chuck Bell said the chances for snow on Sunday “have increased a bit" and that the cold front will arrive on Saturday evening as a storm “tries to organize off the coast.”
“Working together, these two things will have the chance to produce snow in/around DC on #SuperBowlSunday,” Bell tweeted.
The National Weather Service said the strong cold front is expected to arrive Saturday evening. "Still monitoring an area of low pressure for this weekend," the weather service tweeted Wednesday.
