So the hot weather is here and school is almost out which means it’s time for fun in the sun!

I’ll get it started since I went to Virginia Beach over the Memorial Day weekend.

Some of you know I’m a World War II and aviation buff but I’m also a fan of fishing. I found I can enjoy all of my hobbies in Virginia Beach and I didn’t have to spend a fortune to have fun. Of course the hotels were a little pricey (probably because I stayed on the beach) but the Military Aviation Museum only cost me $10 a head to see famed planes from both WWI and WWII. With most of the exhibits still functional, this place is an aviation buff’s dream.
Corsairs, a B-17 bomber and the ever so popular P-51 all take up space at the museum. There are tons of other planes but along with the B-25, which is also there, these are my favorites.

Fishing didn’t break the bank either. At $35 a head, I hopped on the Bay Princess operated by Dockside and caught a few tasty fish. For four hours, we cruised the Chesapeake Bay dropping lines and bringing in some croakers, round heads and hake. For $4 a pound, they fried up our catch inside the restaurant (and it was so good). Dockside operates two boats, both the same price, and had fun. I know there’s nothing like taking in the sun on the beach, but for the person or family looking for a fun-filled time, Virginia Beach gets my vote.
