'Three Teams, One Cause' Aspire to Raise $20,000 for Susan G. Komen Foundation
Three teams aim to raise funds towards breast cancer research at the Paint Ireland Pink Fundraiser at Ireland's Four Provinces Sunday.
Three local teams will be walking to raise money for breast cancer research next month.
Debbi Shaffer, team captain of the Audacious Divas, is a 17-year breast cancer survivor. Linda and Jennifer O'Sullivan of the Olive Boobies team are strong advocates of breast cancer awareness. And Anita Maginniss of the Colorful Strides have lost friends and family to cancer. All three teams have been motivated to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day in Washington DC next month. The 3-Day is a 60-mile walk that raises breast cancer awareness and funds for research and community programs.
The teams will be hosting a fundraiser at Ireland's Four Provinces in Falls Church on Sunday afternoon. According to Maginniss, the three teams have a combined goal of raising $20,000 from this single event. Overall, the three teams aspire to raise at least $60,000 towards cancer research and awareness this year.
Sunday's fundraiser will feature live auction items including an African photo safari, sports memorabilia and more. There will also be food and drink specials and a 50/50 raffle.
"We have something for everyone," Maginniss said.
