A winning Powerball ticket from the Aug. 27 drawing was purchased at a Spotsylvania grocery store, according to Virginia Lottery officials.
SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A Spotsylvania woman who won the $2 million Powerball prize from the Aug. 27 drawing claimed her winnings anonymously, according to the Virginia Lottery.
Anyone who wins a prize worth $1 million or more does not have to identify themselves to the public in order to claim their prize, under Virginia law.
The $2 million prize winner told lottery officials she only plays when the jackpot gets big, adding she couldn't believe she'd won $2 million.

“I kept thinking I was looking at it wrong,” she said.
The winning ticket, which was purchased at Weis Market at 9801 Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania, matched the first five winning numbers but did not match the Powerball number. Since the Spotsylvania woman spent an extra dollar for Power Play when she purchased her ticket, her $1 million prize was doubled.
