FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying four suspects who they say broke into a pawn shop in the Four Mile Fork Shopping Center early Saturday morning.

Investigators believe that the suspects, who were only inside the pawn shop for 27 seconds, intended to steal firearms, according to the incident report.

A deputy was patrolling in the Four Mile Fork Shopping Center around 5:50 a.m. when he noticed a suspicious vehicle with its headlights on, the report says. The vehicle also had front-end damage.

“Moments later, a burglary alarm was reported at a pawn shop located within the same shopping center,” according to the incident report. “Upon arrival, deputies discovered significant damage to the front of the business, indicating that a vehicle had been driven through the storefront. Deputies conducted a search of the premises, but no suspects were located.”

Investigators determined that four suspects forced their way into the business. Once inside, they broke a display case from which they took multiple items, the report says.

“Evidence suggests the suspects may have been targeting firearms, but the business had secured those items, leading the suspects to take other items before fleeing the scene,” the report says.”It should be noted the suspects were only in the business for 27 seconds.”

The deputies located a vehicle believed to be involved with the burglary in the parking lot, the report says. The vehicle was reported stolen from Maryland. The suspects fled the scene in a silver sedan.

The sheriff’s office released a surveillance photo on Monday of the silver sedan to help the public identify the vehicle or provide information that might help investigators apprehend the suspects, the report says.
