FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Fredericksburg area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.
Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Fredericksburg area:
- Fredericksburg SPCA
- The Fredericksburg SPCA helps animals find homes. They also assist animals who need medical care through the Locke Community Medical Center.
- Fredericksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad
- The Fredericksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad has helped keep the area safe for more than 80 years. The rescue squad's volunteer EMTs and firefighters respond to 911 calls to assist people in need.
- Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank
- The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is working to end hunger in the region. They connect people in need with hundreds of community partners and food assistance program. In 2022, the food bank distributed more than 5 million pounds of food to those in need, according to their website.
- Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic
- The Lloyd Moss Free Clinic seeks to provide free medical care to people who may not be able to afford it otherwise. The organization serves more than 1,000 patients on a yearly basis, including people who are uninsured, low-income, and from underserved communities.
- Loisann's Hope House
- Loisann's Hope House wants to end homelessness in the region. The organization operates an emergency shelter, a rapid rehousing program, and a homelessness helpline for those in need.
