Arrest Made In Hit And Run That Killed Spotsylvania Man: Sheriff
A Spotsylvania man was killed when the electric bicycle he was riding was struck from behind by an SUV Friday night, authorities say.
SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A 20-year-old Spotsylvania man was fatally injured when the electeric scooter he was riding was struck from behind by an SUV and another another vehicle Friday night on Courthouse Road, according to authorities.
Sheriff's deputies and Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue units responded around 10:15 p.m to investigate the report of a motor vehicle crash in the 9600 block of Courthouse Road. Once there, they found a man lying in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene according to the sheriff's office.
"Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and began an extensive investigation. Numerous witnesses remained on scene and provided critical information," according to the incident report. "Preliminary findings indicate that an electric bicycle equipped with lights was traveling eastbound on Courthouse Road when it was struck from behind by a burgundy GMC SUV. After the initial impact, the victim was struck by a second vehicle."

Although the driver of the GMC SUV left the scene, the driver of the second vehicle remained and cooperated with investigators, according to the sheriff's office. The deceased victim was identified as 20-year-old Sameer Anwar of Spotsylvania.
On Saturday, the driver of the GMC SUV visited the sheriff's office and spoke with deputies. Based on interviews statements from witnesses and surveillance video, they arrested Bryce Littlejohn of Spotsylvania and charged him with felony hit and run resulting in death, felony grand larceny, and misdemeanor reckless driving. He was then taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
