Brush Strokes Gallery Features ceebs and Medina Roberts

'A Duet of Color' runs April 29 - May 26. Opening reception is May 3 from 6 - 9 p.m.

The Brush Strokes Gallery Featured Artist exhibit throughout May is a collaborative show by two local artists, Medina Roberts and ceebs. Both artists share a kindred spirit in celebrating life and relationship, but employ very different styles, subject matter and palettes to convey that heart.

Medina uses lively brush strokes with thick, textural paint, whereas ceebs works in a more blended way, but they both love color... bold, varied and abundant.  Both artists use realistic elements but bring their subjects to life in totally different ways.

Medina was born and raised in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the experience of the ravages of war in her homeland infuse her paintings with passion, energy and a urgent recognition of the value of life. With a palette of bold colors and powerful brush strokes, Medina’s paintings range from thickly painted nostalgic landscapes to depictions that capture the essence of love.

In contrast, ceebs uses a more subtle palette of sepia, nuanced earth tones, and pastels in highly-detailed paintings that use unique vantage points and creative cropping that provide unique insight into the personality of her subjects.

Impressive musical compositions combine syncopated contrasting elements to create a harmonious work, just as two innovative artists do in this unique “Duet.”
