Burglar Sought in Spotsy

Sheriff's Office searching for man who police say planned and carried out a burglary with two juveniles.

Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who they say helped two juveniles rob a Spotsylvania County home on Monday. They are asking the public to help find 22-year-old John Wayne King or provide information about his whereabouts.

Around 7:25 p.m. on July 25, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's office responded to a home for a burglary report. Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Kurt Frulla discovered that the thieves most likely entered through a lower floor window after cutting out the screen. Inside, muddy shoe prints trailed from the window, through the kitchen and out the back door.

Witnesses told Frulla that two male suspects dressed in all black clothing were seen standing in front of the garage earlier in the day. Also, the homeowner's son had received an odd phone call, with the callers on the other end asking if he was home and if his mother's car was in the drive way.

"The son was out shopping with his mother and they were in her car at the time," said Lt. Col. Michael Timm, public information officer for the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Department. "So, he thought the phone call was very strange."

Frulla used the information gathered from the phone call to find and interview a juvenile suspect who in turn told police that two juveniles and an adult had participated in the robbery. Frully also noted that the juvenile suspects were wearing all black clothing, fitting the descriptions provided by earlier witnesses. The shoes that the juvenile suspects were wearing also matched the muddy prints found at the house.

Almost all of the stolen items have been recovered. Three warrants were obtained against King, one for burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony and grand larceny. King also stands charged with two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The juveniles will be charged through the juvenile justice process. The juvenile suspect who entered the residence was held at Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center, the other will be charged on a petition.
