Starting Salary Range: $47,181 - $57,269

Under general supervision, performs supervisory, administrative and technical accounting work for the Office of the Treasurer. Work involves scheduling and overseeing the daily collection and disbursement operations; supervising staff; and reviewing, balancing, and reporting on varied financial transactions, accounts and programs. Supervises lawful collection actions of taxes and fees. Duties also include assisting with the maintenance, operation and updating of the department’s information systems.

This employee will work under the general direction of the Treasurer and supervises the daily operations and staff of the Treasurer’s Office. They will assist the Treasurer with developing and implementing department policies and procedures. Also, plans, assigns and supervises the work of department account clerks.

This employee performs a variety of administrative duties associated with supervising staff to include: assigning work, providing and/or coordinating training for employees; reviewing and approving timesheets. Creates, analyzes and reports statistical and financial information pertaining to department activities and prepares reports for the Treasurer. Prepares departmental budget requests and State Compensation Board request for Treasurer’s review and submittal and monitors the department budget. Performs a variety of accounting functions to include balancing the Treasurer’s Accountability Fund and balancing accounting reports to subsidiary ledgers, including the cash reports, investments, overpayments, etc. Prepares, balances and verifies tax bills. Criminal background, credit history check and driving record checks required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance; supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years of experience performing general accounting work, plus supervision; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
