Counterfeiters Arrested In Fredericksburg: Police

Two people sought for passing counterfeit bills were arrested after doing the same at one of the places they already hit, say police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—Two people sought for passing counterfeit bills were arrested Wednesday after doing the same at one of the businesses they already had hit, according to Fredericksburg Police. The clerk recognized them from police "wanted" flyers circulated through various means in the area.

Babo Opeyemi, 24, of White Plains, Md, was charged with five counts of forging coin/banknotes, five counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, and possession of forged coin/banknotes. Briana Renee Brown, 22, of Waldorf, Md., was charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and three counts of banknote/coin forgery.

On Dec. 3, they used counterfeit bills at four Fredericksburg restaurants in the Cowan Crossing strip mall in the 1600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway: Starbucks, Jersey Mike's, Vocelli's Pizza and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, they went to the same Starbucks and again tried to buy items with counterfeit money. An employee recognized them from the flyers and contacted police. They have been charged by other area jurisdictions for similar crimes, and are being held without bond.
