Crash Sends Man To Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries: Police

Virginia State Police are investigating an early Monday morning crash in Orange County that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

ORANGE COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police are investigating an early Monday morning crash in Orange County that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened around 5:50 a.m. on Route 20 (Constitution Highway) at Rhoades Road.

An unknown vehicle was traveling west on Route 20 when it attempted to pass a vehicle that stopped to make a left turn. As the unknown vehicle attempted to pass in the eastbound lane, it caused a 1999 Ford Ranger that was traveling east to run off the right side of the roadway.

As a result, the Ford overcorrected crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2020 Ram utility van.

The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old man from Orange, was ejected during the crash. He was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Ford, a 20-year-old female, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ram, a 41-year-old man from Fredericksburg, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment, police said.

Three adult passengers in the Ram also suffered minor injuries and were taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment.
