UPDATE: Potential Monday VRE Delays Avoided
CSX Software glitch has been resolved, say VRE officials.

UPDATE: 9:15 p.m. - An email to subscribers of the VRE's train talk newsletter says that CSX has resolved their software glitch, avoiding potential delays.
"Signals are back up and trains are operating normally through our territory," writes April Maguigad, director of rail operations with VRE. "All Fredericksburg Line trains are expected to operate on schedule tomorrow without delay."

VRE riders on the Fredericksburg line may have to deal with some delays relating to a software glitch for a recently updated section of the CSX tracks between Milford and Dahlgren Junction. The full VRE announcement was sent to subscribers of the system's Train Talk email newsletter shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The full announcement is posted below:

Over the weekend, CSX upgraded a section of their signal system in preparation for the move to Positive Train Control (PTC - a federally mandated system). The section of track involved runs from Milford, VA (south of our overnight layover yard) to Dahlgren Junction (between Fredericksburg and Leeland Road).
Unfortunately, there has been a slight software glitch that has prevented CSX from completing this upgrade. They are continuing to work with the programmers to find the location of the software glitch. However, there is a possibility that this will affect VRE Fredericksburg Line service tomorrow morning.
While we remain hopeful that CSX will find the source of the error before then, VRE is preparing for the possibility that there may be some delays to morning service. Keolis will be calling crews in early to help ensure that trains can operate as timely as possible. Even with this, there may be some train congestion or other dispatching issues that may cause our trains to be delayed.
Worst case scenario is that all morning trains may be delayed about 30 minutes. We may know more later this evening or early tomorrow morning. Another Train Talk will be sent as soon as more information is known, no later than 4:00am on Monday morning.
Please keep an eye out for more updated information, which will be made available through Train Talk, on our website at www.vre.org, or our 800-RIDE-VRE hotline.
