Disoriented Drunk Detained in Spotsy
"Extremely intoxicated" man arrested after wandering to wrong house, held at gunpoint by off-duty police officer.

An alcohol induced case of a mistaken address led to a tense situation over the weekend in Spotsylvania County.
On July 2, at around 5 a.m., Spotsylvania Sheriff's Deputies received a report of a drunk person being held at gun point ON South Woods Drive. However, it was an off-duty Metro Police Officer holding the gun. Earlier, the off-duty transit officer heard a commotion at the back door, where 21 year old Spotsylvania resident Ryan Stiff was trying to enter the house. The officer, fearing that his house was being broken into, detained Stiff until Spotsylvania Sheriff's arrived.
Upon questioning, police concluded that Stiff was "extremely intoxicated" and had unintentionally tried to enter the house of the off-duty Metro officer instead of his own home.
