Public hearings, business incentives take center stage at next week's City Council meetings.

Next week's City Council meeting is heavy on public hearings, with six items up for comment at the meeting. 

Among the items up for public hearings include a regional water supply plan prepeared by Spotsylvania County to be submitted to the State Water Control Board. In response to the 2002 drougt, Virginia began a broad water supply planning process which requires communities to develop water supply plans and review them every five years. The full plan can be reviewed here.

The public is also asked to comment on new rules regarding out of scale houses in city neighborhoods. The City Council will also consider adopting design guidelines for Lafayette Boulevard

The City Council will also consider granting the Economic Development Authority a $725,000 promissory note to help finance the purchase of 609 Sophia Street for the expansion of Riverfront Park. 

Other items up for comment, including the granting of special use permits for an automobile service establishment and a transitional house for homeless women and children on Lafayette Boulevard.

Incentives Up for Consideration

In the City Manager's agenda, the City Council will consider awarding $78,700 in incentives to the Buttermilk & Olde Lace restaurant at 623 Caroline Street and $15,500 in incentives to AAA-Mid Atlantic at 2871 Plank Road. 

Closed Sessions Slated 

Prior to the regular session, the City Council will meet in closed session to discuss the performance of ranking members of the municipal administration, including the City Manager Beverly Cameron, the City Attorney Kathleen Dooley and the Clerk of Council Tonya Lacey.
