Driver Will Not Face Charges After Hitting Child On Bicycle: Police
A driver will not face charges after crashing into a child on a bicycle on Monday afternoon, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A driver will not face charges after hitting a child on a bicycle on Monday, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.
The child was flown to an area hospital after the crash. He received treatment for his injuries, authorities said.
The driver, who police did not identify, remained at the scene of the crash. He will not face any criminal charges.

The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Bryant Boulevard and Bertram Boulevard. The sheriff's office did not provide details about the crash. In a Facebook post, authorities only noted that the child was hit by a moving vehicle.
Bystanders provided first aid to the child before first responders arrived on the scene.

"We want to encourage everyone to continue to drive and ride safely in Stafford," the sheriff's office said. "Bicyclists are encouraged to always wear a helmet and are required to obey all traffic signs and rules of the road when riding on the roadway."
