FedNats' Sykora Scores Back-To-Back Pitcher Of The Week Honors: MLB
Fredericksburg Nationals' Travis Sykora is the first Carolina League player to be named Pitcher Of The Week for two consecutive weeks.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — For the second week in a row, the Carolina League has named Travis Sykora, a starting pitcher with the Fredericksburg Nationals, as the league's Pitcher of the Week.
On Monday, Major League Baseball reported that the Washington National's third-round draft pick from Round Rock, Texas was the first pitcher league-wide to be so honored in two consecutive weeks.
Currently, Sykora is in the middle of an 11-inning hitless strike, after throwing six hitless innings in the FredNat's game on Friday night against the Carolina Mudcats. Sykora helped the FredNats earn its first nine inning no-hitter against the Mudcats.
