Flying Insects Found In 2 Fredericksburg Restaurant Kitchens: Inspection
Rappahannock Area Health District inspectors reported violations at 15 Fredericksburg food establishments they visited July 28-Aug. 5.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Rappahannock Area Health District inspectors reported finding health code violations at 15 Fredericksburg food establishments they visited July 28-Aug. 5.
An inspector who visited BJ's Restaurants and Brewhouse at 1861 Carl D. Silver Parkway on Aug. 5 reported seeing a sticky fly strip covered with insects hanging above the boxes of drink syrups. They also observed multiple flying insects in the kitchen, mop sink, and bar areas.
"The person in charge discarded the strip and will no longer hang the strips over food, single-service or single-use articles, or clean equipment," according to the report. "The person in charge advised that the air curtain just recently got fixed, and that the pest control company is trying to cut the flying insects back down."

An inspector also reported finding flying insects at Waffle House #2303 at 45 Civilian St.
"The presence of insects, rodents, and other pests shall be controlled to minimize their presence on the premises,' the inspector wrote.

The restaurant was instruted to routinely inspect incoming shipments of food and supplies, as well as inspect the premises for evidence of pests. If pests are found the restaurants must uas trapping devices or other means of pest control and eliminate harborage conditions.
