Fredericksburg City Public Schools Make Weather Decision For Tuesday
Fredericksburg City Schools have made a decision about Tuesday classes due to the winter storm that's blanketed Northern Virginia in snow.
ARLINGTON, VA — Students in Fredericksburg Public Schools will have an additional day of extending their winter break
All schools and sbuildings in FCPS will not be open as parking lots and sidewalks are being cleared.
"Essential personnel will be notified by their supervisor regarding report times. The reason for this decision is hazardous road conditions and uncertain weather," FCPS said in an alert on Monday.

Stafford County Public Schools will also be closed on Tuesday.
"All activities and events scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled. This was a regularly scheduled as a professional learning day, no students were to report," according to a post on the SCPS website.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools will also be closed on Tuesday.
"All Spotsylvania County Public Schools and offices are closed Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Code 1 - essential personnel report to perform emergency services as necessary. All school sponsored activities including student externships are cancelled," according to a post on the SCPS website.
Snow totals as of midday Monday ranged from 6.3 inches near the University of Mary Washington and 7.5 inches in Stafford, 6.0 inches in Orange, and 7.5 inches in Quantico, the National Weather Service said.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday throughout Northern Virginia and other parts of the region. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches are predicted, but isolated areas could get up to 12 inches if heavy banding forms, according to the National Weather Service.
