FREDERICKSBURG, VA — What's billed as the "oldest fair in America" beings a 10-day run Friday, July 26, at 2400 Airport Avenue. It's the venerable Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair, which began in 1738 and will operate this year under the theme "Carnival Lights and Timeless Delights."

Among the attractions are the ever-popular beauty pageants, ice skating (no, really), chainsaw art, a mechanical bull, baking competitions, a petting zoo, pony and camel rides, animal exhibits, a repeating demolition derby, live music and, of course, agricultural and livestock exhibits.

Tickets generally are $10 per day but click here for specifics and specials.
