Fredericksburg City Schools Make Weather Decision For Monday

Fredericksburg City Schools have made a decision about Monday, Jan. 6, classes due to the incoming winter storm.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Students in Fredericksburg City Public Schools will have an additional day added to their winter break on Monday, Jan. 6.

All buildings will be closed on Monday. Since Tuesday is teacher workday, students will report to school on Wednesday.

"The reason for this decision is the timing of snowfall and possible sleet or freezing rain with regard to our ability to safely address hazardous conditions from parking lots and sidewalks," according to FCPS. "Safety is always our top priority.

"We know that anything can change. We will continue to monitor weather, road conditions, as well as parking lots and sidewalks with regard to school opening. We will be in contact with you should we need to further adjust schedules."

Stafford County Public Schools will also be closed on Monday, with all activities and events on Monday cancelled.

All Spotsylvania County Public Schools campuses and offices are closed on Monday. All school sponsored activities, including student externships are cancelled. School employees: Code 0 - no employees report.
