In a candidate questionnaire, McFadden and Lucas told Patch they were looking to support a diverse student body with different perspectives and encourage academic rigor. Bailey did not respond to the Patch questionnaire.

"My drive to advocate and my determination to assist in building an educational environment where transparency, active listening, and collaboration are the cornerstones of progress is why I seek the opportunity to serve the community," McFadden said. "It's about addressing the needs of our students, supporting our teachers, and connecting the resources our community offers."

Lucas shared similar sentiments, saying she hopes to provide a top-tier education for Fredericksburg students.

"My primary goal as a candidate is to provide essential oversight and constructive feedback to our school system in order to improve education, without any social agendas," Lucas said. "School board policies should be centered around education and be designed to support and empower our dedicated professionals to deliver high-quality education to our students."
