Fredericksburg Man Assaulted Inside His Home: Sheriff's Office

Spotsylvania sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say broke into a Fredericksburg-area home on Sunday night and assaulted the homeowner.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 43-year-old Manassas man was arrested for assaulting a resident inside their Fredericksburg-area home on Sunday night, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 9:15 p.m. after receiving a phone call from a homeowner in the 9100 block of Wood Creek Circle saying that a man had entered his home through the garage, assaulted him and then left, according to the incident report. The victim did not suffer any significant injuries.

Searching the area, deputies found a man nearby who matched the description provided by the victim, according to the sheriff's office. The deputies searched the suspect, identified as Allen Colbert Jr. of Manassas, and his vehicle, which was parked nearby. They found narcotics that were consistent with erratic behavior displayed by Colbert at the time of the reported assault.

The deputies also determined that Colbert had also tried to enter another home in the neighborhood before breaking into the home where the reported assault occurred, according to the sheriff's office.

Colbert was arrested and charged with burglary with intent to commit assault and battery, attempted breaking and entering, possession of Schedule I/II narcotics, and assault and battery, according to the sheriff's office. He was then held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
