Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank Honored As It Expands Summer Services
No Kid Hungry recently honored the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank for its ongoing commitment to feeding the region's hungry children.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Carey Sealy and Curtis Dickerson, the director of distribution services and distribution logistics manager, respectively, at the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, were recently recognized as Summer Hunger Heroes by No Kid Hungry.
Sealy and Dickerson oversee the operation of 12 food distribution sites in the Fredericksburg area, including churches, schools, a park and even a retail partner, according to No Kid Hungry. They served more than 197,000 meals in summer 2024, up from just 9,500 in 2019.
As part of their commitment to serve is many people as they can this summer, Sealy and Dickerson are expanding evening hours and the Summer EBT program, which provides $120 in grocery benefits per child.

The food bank is also piloting Ship-to-Home, which allows for multi-day meal distribution and home deliveries. This will help feed students who depend on the school meals program during the school year to continue receiving food over the summer break.
“No Kid Hungry is proud to honor these outstanding individuals for their tireless work to ensure kids in rural communities receive summer meals and that families feel the economic relief afforded by Summer EBT benefits,” said Sarah Steely, No Kid Hungry Virginia director. “Thanks to their efforts, thousands of kids can count on healthy meals all summer, allowing them to return to school in the fall healthy and ready to learn.”
