Fredericksburg Voters Head To Polls For VA's Dual Primary Election
Tuesday's dual primary will be the last chance for Republicans and Democrats to choose which candidates they want on the Nov. 5 ballot.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Democratic and Republican voters in Fredericksburg will be heading to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots for candidates running in Virginia's Dual Party Primary, which will have separate ballots for each party
The Democratic primary election on June 18, 2024 will include three candidates vying for the open seat in the 7th Congressional District, which includes the City of Fredericksburg as well as King George, Greene, Orange, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Albemarle, Madison, Culpeper, Prince William and Caroline counties.
Six candidates are on the Republican ballot on June 18 in the 7th Congressional District race: Jon P. Myers, Derrick M. Anderson, Cameron D. Hamilton, John Prabhudoss, Maria E. Martin, and Terris E. Todd.

How to Vote Early and on Election Day
Many Fredericksburg voters have already cast ballots in the dual primary either by mail or during the May 3-June 15 early voting period. Tuesday will be voters' last chance to choose who they want representing them on the November ballot.
An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.
Mail-in ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before June 18, 2024 and received by 12 p.m., June 21, 2024.
- The Voter Registrar’s ballot box will be available inside the Office of Voter Registration during regular business hours.
- Due to construction work, the new Visitor Center on the first floor of Executive Plaza is underway.
- All absentee ballots by mail have a stamped returned envelope included with them.
- Curbside voting will move to Wolfe Street in the first two parking spaces closest to Caroline Street. To request assistance, call the Office of Voter Registration and Elections at 540-372-1030.
Voters should follow the mail-in ballot instructions to return completed ballots. There is a choice to return by mail, a secure drop box with video surveillance outside the Office of Voter Registration & Elections, or at any polling place during voting hours. Mail-in ballots should be returned by 7 p.m. on June 18 or postmarked by June 18.
The easiest way to register to vote or check your registration status is visiting the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal. Same-day registration is available to let voters cast a provisional ballot at the Voter Registration & Elections office.
Voters who will be 18 by the next general election on Nov. 5, 2024 can register to vote in the primary.
If you're voting on Election Day, visit your assigned polling place during voting hours from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check your polling place using the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal and see Fredericksburg's precinct locator.
An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.
After polls close at 7 p.m. on June 18, preliminary election results will be tallied on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
