A bit more than the average, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and first reported by CNBC. The Commonwealth reports a median annual wage of $49,920, nearly 4 percent more than the U.S. average of $48,060, per the data.

That’s compared to the highest median wage in Massachusetts ($60,690) and the lowest in Mississippi ($37,500). Neighboring Maryland had a median wage of $55,810.

In fact, the Northeast region represented most of the top 10 highest-earning U.S. states, according to the data.

Aside from top earner Massachusetts, New York ($56,840, No. 3), Connecticut ($56,130, No. 5), Maryland ($55,810, No. 6), New Jersey ($54,860, No. 7) and Rhode Island ($50,970, No. 10) made the other top spots.
