Hit And Run Driver Fails To Outfox Stafford Sheriff’s Deputy: Report
An effort to remove license plates from a vehicle involved in a hit and run crash failed to deceive one Stafford sheriff's deputy.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in the Fredericksburg area who tried to outsmart authorities failed to deceive a Stafford County Sheriff’s deputy.
On Saturday, a deputy responded around 9:06 a.m., to a hit and run at the Falls Run Stone & Stucco at 700 Nelms Circle. The deputy found that an Acura traveling at a high rate of speed had crashed into the business’ sign, according to the incident report.
In an apparent attempt to hide their identity, the driver removed the vehicle’s license plates and other identifying information before fleeing the scene of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

Reviewing a surveillance video, the deputy discovered that the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. The video also showed the driver frantically removing the plates and other identifying information, before depositing them inside an old washing machine across the street, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy then retrieved those items and continued their investigation.
