Icy Weather Prompts Fredericksburg City Schools To Alter Schedule

After icy conditions remained from the weekend's snowfall, Fredericksburg City Public Schools adjusted its schedule for Monday.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg City Public Schools delayed its opening on Monday due to inclement weather, according to a post on the FCPS website. The delay affects all students and staff.

FCPS officials will be meeting Monday morning to determine whether it was necessary to lose all schools.

While some areas to the north received several inches of snowfall, the National Weather Service's snowfall recordings show the area around Fredericksburg received less than an inch of snow. However, below-freezing temperatures and low wind chill values have caused icy patches to linger in some areas. Temperatures will approach 32 Monday, but get above freezing in the following days.
