What: Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run

Where:

When: Registration opens at 6:15 a.m.

Details: Five mile race begins at 7:45 a.m., taking runners on a course through downtown Fredericksburg starting at the railroad station, ending at the visitors center.  

What: Herigtage Festival Parade

Where: Downtown Fredericksburg

When: 9:30 a.m. 

Details: Fredericksburg Jaycees host an all-American parade. Anyone who can walk, ride a bike or pull a wagon (or any other simple float) is invited to participate. 

What: Heritage Street Festival 

Where: Downtown Fredericksburg

When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Details: Dunk tanks, carnival food, and more will be present in Fredericksburg to ring in another year of American independence. 

What: Rappahanock River Raft Race

Where: Falmouth Waterfront Park

When: 11:30 a.m.

Details: Aquatic engineers are invited to enter home-built floating contraptions in a race from Falmouth Waterfront Park to Fredericksburg City Dock Park. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. 

What: Spirit of America Festival

Where:

When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

Details: Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about colonial life through a variety of living history exhibitions. George Washington will be present, as will a 1630s indian village and a National Guard Helicopter will be available to explore. Full information can be found here at the Ferry Farm website

Cost: $1 admission

What: Fourth Annual Independence Day Spectacular

Where: Pratt Park, 20 River Road, Falmouth

When: 8 p.m. 

Details: Signaling the beginning of the fireworks display, the performance will include patriotic music and Broadway favorites and will feature singer Jasmine Williams, winner of the 2011 NOVA Idol competition. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. 

Cost: Free, but bring a chair
