James Monroe Celebrates Homecoming Week

A week of festivities mark the high school's Homecoming.

James Monroe High School celebrates Homecoming the week of Oct. 9 - 13. This year's theme is J.M.A.s (Jacket Music Awards).

Each day Tuesday through Friday will feature a theme.

  • Tuesday is Music Genre Day: freshman will be Rock, sophomores will be Pop, juniors will be Country, and seniors Hip Hop/Rap.
  • Wednesday is Color Wars Day: freshman will be purple, sophomores will be red, juniors will be green, and seniors will be blue. 
  • Thursday is Twin Day: Dress up with your friends as twins, triplets or even more.
  • Friday is Black and Orange Day:  Wear the colors of James Monroe High School.

The week also features special activities. The powder-puff football game is Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Maury Stadium.

Students will exhibit their club floats in the annual parade on Spirit Friday, Oct. 12. The Yellow Jackets will leave the high school at 1:15 p.m. to march along Washington Avenue to Maury Stadium for their Homecoming pep rally.

The Jackets take on the Blue Devils of Culpeper High School on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the traditional Homecoming football game. The halftime show will feature a performance by the James Monroe Marching Band, under the direction of Chris Mallory. The Homecoming Court will also be announced and crowned at halftime.

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday night in the James Monroe High School Commons Area.
