James Monroe Victorious Over Lafayette
The Yellow Jackets will play Heritage of Lynchburg in the state semifinals.
James Monroe beat previously undefeated Lafayette High School 34 - 28 in overtime Saturday. Before the game, Coach Richard Serbay called it a David versus Goliath match-up.
The win moves the Yellow Jackets (9-4) into the 3A state semifinals against Heritage of Lynchburg (13-0). The game will be played 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Lynchburg City Stadium, 3176 Fort Ave., Lynchburg.
