This Landmark Is The Most Romantic Place In VA, List Reveals

VIRGINIA — The Natural Bridge near Roanoke is the most romantic place in Virginia, according to a recently released list.

Located in Rockbridge County, the Natural Bridge is located within a state park with the same name. Found at the center of the park, the 200-foot-tall Natural Bridge sits in a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek.

A recent list by Travel + Leisure compiled the most romantic places in every state. Writers agreed Assateague is worth a visit.

"The dramatic arch of this landmark near Roanoke makes it a perennially popular spot for couple photo shoots," according to Travel + Leisure writers. "The... rock tunnel is the main event here, but Natural Bridge is more than just a geologic formation — it's also the name of the surrounding state park and the neighboring town, giving visitors here the chance to enjoy hiking, stargazing, and a stay at one of the area's charming B&Bs."

While visiting Natural Bridge, travelers can access 10 miles of hiking trails including Cedar Creek Trail, which leads from the park's Visitor Center to Lace Falls with its 50-foot cascade. The Visitor Center also features exhibits and a gift shop.
