Latest Snow Predictions For Friday In NoVA: Timing, Forecast
Northern Virginia could see flakes fall in some areas as a winter weather system moves through the state Friday.
VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia could see a dusting of snow Friday as a winter weather system moves through the region, potentially disrupting holiday travel plans in parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, a hazardous weather outlook is in effect for the Washington, D.C. area and the Interstate 95 corridor on Friday.
Scattered light rain and snow showers were forecast to push east Friday morning mainly along and north of Interstate 66 and U.S. Highway 50, according to the outlook. Light accumulating snow is possible mainly west of Interstate 95 and north of Interstate 70.

Additional rain and snow showers are expected Friday afternoon and evening as a low-pressure system moves through the state, NWS forecasters said.

According to the Capital Weather Gang's latest forecast, there's a chance of a light and spotty rain-snow mix this afternoon, especially north of the District.

"There could be a grassy coating, mainly well north and northwest of Interstate 95. Weather-related travel disruptions should be few," the Capital Weather Gang said. "While pavement is snow-free, drivers may behave differently when flakes are visible."
While the rest of the weekend looks to be clear and sunny, Marylanders may need to pull out their winter coats. Saturday will be blustery with winds up to 30 mph and a high temperature of 36. Sunday will be colder with highs barely topping 30 degrees.

Friday: Rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 30. North wind 6 to 9 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16.
